Entry Level Analyst
Entry Level Job Description
Urban Crossroads is seeking an Entry Level Analyst with 1-3 years of work experience.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Conduct transportation analysis and write technical reports.
- Participate in internal team meetings.
- Conduct site visits and collect field data.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Identifies discrepancies in results.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with guidance from supervisor.
- Will primarily work on trip generation assessment, traffic study scoping agreement/memorandum of understanding (or MOU), roadway segment analysis, peak hour intersection operations analysis (level of service or LOS based traffic studies), etc.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BS + 1-3 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation, urban planning, or related field such as economics, statistics, data science, etc.
- Traffic Engineering experience, Highway Capacity Analysis and traffic study preparation and writing.
- Experience using different software packages such as AutoCAD, Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, GIS, etc.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Organizational skills, expresses interest in the field of transportation planning, strong verbal and written communication skills

Associate Engineer
(Emphasis in Traffic Engineering design)
Definition:
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of professional Civil engineering work associated with traffic engineering, land development projects, including preparing and/or reviewing various engineering plans, technical studies, and other relevant documents; and does related work as assigned. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering design and project management is required.
Class Characteristics:
Associate Engineers perform high-level engineering assignments and are responsible for independent engineering design, analysis, and recommendations.
Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of professional engineering work; prepare Traffic Signal, Signing and Striping, Interconnect, traffic control, plans and other related traffic engineering plans.
- Design projects according to established engineering practices, and compliance with federal, state, county, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations.
- Prepare specifications and cost estimates.
- Review subdivision improvement plans, parcel and tract maps, road and grading plans, related maps, specifications, and other information for accuracy and format.

- Act as liaison to contractor’s representatives in coordinating contract projects; monitors project construction activity.
- Prepare and submit specifications and cost estimates for projects; may compile data and prepare reports.
- Review and approve proposed residential, commercial, and industrial developments by checking site plans, technical studies, and tentative/final subdivision maps for compliance with appropriate regulations.
- Represent the Design Division at meetings and site/field reviews.
- Meet with clients to define project objectives and prescribe standards; review projects and make recommendations.
- Oversee assigned projects from inception to completion.
- Resolve issues/concerns as they arise to expedite project approvals.
- Verify that assigned projects meet applicable codes, policies, and standards.
- Attend City Council, Planning Commission and community meetings as needed.
- Prepare technical reports and memorandums for management review.
- Resolve issues/concerns as they arise both in the office and out in the field.
- Sign all plans as the Professional Civil Engineer for assigned projects.
- Interact with co-workers at all levels within the organization and with clients in a collaborative and customer service-oriented manner.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance, while adhering to scheduled working hours.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field (required).
Licenses/Certifications:
- Possess a California Professional Civil Engineer’s license and/or Traffic Engineer’s license. (or ability to attain P.E. in California within one year of employment required)
Special Requirements:
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Receive satisfactory results from a background investigation.
